You may have been thinking about picking up a camera, but kept putting it off because you aren't sure exactly how it works. Our cell phones take pretty amazing pictures, but what if you want to elevate the photos you take, learn to manipulate light, or how to compose your images so they're more artistic or pleasing to the eye, and don't know where to begin?
Of course, YouTube or TikTok have options for learning, but there's something about learning in person, where you can have an actual conversation & ask questions that improves your learning experience so you can get out there & start shooting sooner.
Photography is my passion, and I learned a few years ago that teaching it is something I'm not only good at, but passionate about as well. Seeing that light go on the moment all the elements click, is one of my greatest joys, and I want to share that with anyone who's ready to step up their photographic game.
So, what will you learn? Lots of cool stuff.
First, you'll learn all about the elements of Exposure -- the technical stuff like:
Aperture (the size of the opening of your lens)
Shutter Speed (the speed at which your shutter opens and closes)
ISO (the sensor's sensitivity to light)
Exposure Cheat Sheet
We'll go over examples of each element so you can see real-life applications (and mistakes!) and I will encourage you after each session to out into the world and try them for yourself. Next, we'll cover some composition basics (there are A LOT, so we won't be able to go over every one of them) such as:
The Rule of Thirds
Leading Lines
Cropping/Filling the Frame
Framing
Depth of Field
Negative Space
Patterns
Balance & Symmetry

I am REALLY excited to help you get started on your journey as a photographer, whether you are pursuing a career, or just want to enjoy a new hobby. And in case you have the crazy idea that you're too old to learn something new, allow me squash that belief and let you know there is no such thing as too old for learning.
If you are ready to get started, send an email to nancy@purpleflyphotography.com and we'll get you scheduled. I can't wait!
